The story of Open Book.


Sharon Sampson founded Open Book in 2012 because she is passionate about telling stories that matter. After graduating from Princeton University, she spent more than 15 years working across non-profit, for-profit, and government sectors, including five years as a Vice President at a public relations firm in New York City. But after relocating to the Twin Cities, she wanted to combine her leadership in public relations, communications strategy, and creative direction into a business  focused on helping organizations that do great work to engage more people in their mission. She chose the name Open Book to reinforce our own mission: to invite people into your story.


A commitment to team has always been part of our heartbeat—a strong sense of team both among our staff and with our clients. We don’t work in silos; we work synergistically and collaboratively. We believe in each other, we believe in you—and we’re better together.


We’ve worked with missions of all sizes: community-based nonprofits to national movements, national retail brands to church capital campaigns, start-up businesses to national events with 10,000+ in attendance. In every project, our commitment is the same: to provide hands-on leadership, breakthrough creativity, and strategic solutions that elevate brands, clarify messaging, and mobilize engagement.
